Tyler Menzler is the founder and principal of 1842 Strategies, a boutique public affairs consultancy built on the belief that effective advocacy begins with integrity, strategy, and trust.

With more than a decade of experience in government, policy, and leadership, Tyler has served at the highest levels of Congress and within the executive branch. He began his career on Capitol Hill working for Congressman Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania, then Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where he helped advance key legislative priorities, including the Disaster Recovery Reform Act. Tyler later joined the U.S. General Services Administration during the Trump Administration, managing congressional policy and helping secure more than $2 billion in federal capital projects.

In the private sector, Tyler served as Director of Legislative Affairs for the Cigar Association of America, where he built coalitions, navigated complex federal regulations, oversaw the association’s PAC, and strengthened the industry’s voice in Washington. Returning to Capitol Hill, he went on to serve as Chief of Staff to two Members of Congress, leading teams that shaped national policy on energy, healthcare, transportation, and Main Street economic issues.

Today, through 1842 Strategies, Tyler partners with companies, trade associations, and civic organizations to help them navigate the federal landscape with purpose and precision. His approach to advocacy is grounded in service, transparency, and trust. Values that have guided him since his early days as a volunteer firefighter in Donora, Pennsylvania.

Tyler holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Wheeling Jesuit University and is currently pursuing his Executive MBA at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business, where he continues to refine his approach to ethical leadership and strategic management.

When he’s not advising clients, you’ll find Tyler traveling with his wife, Ashley, and their Australian Shepherd, Winston, watching Notre Dame football and rugby, or mentoring emerging leaders who share his passion for public service and principled advocacy.
